The Adult Basic Education Association exists to improve the quality of life in the community of Hamilton through the promotion and support of lifelong learning. Instead, we help you navigate the various options out there. Do you need to upgrade your skills to get a job? We can discuss your options and help you develop a plan that is right for you! There are free adult upgrading programs across the city.
Take courses to improve your reading, writing and math skills, your English or French or to get your high school diploma. Adult learning programs are for Ontario residents ranging from 19 years old through to seniors of any age. For adults who want to earn high school credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD or need academic credits to enter postsecondary education or apprenticeship training. For adults who want to upgrade their skills and knowledge to meet admission requirements for Ontario college programs or for registration as an apprentice in Ontario.
Aims at teaching computer skills to mature adults and occasionally, other marginalized groups. Offers free adult literacy services available in eight counties. Their volunteers provide help with reading, writing, math skills, and conversational English. They also have additional classes in citizenship preparation and digital literacy.
